Born : 1985 in Dundee, Scotland
Merlin Ramos is fascinated in the area between drawing and painting. His oil paintings are inherently linked to the observational drawing practice that he finds so important. The paintings reflect the inseparable relationship between the observer and subject; making many of the landscapes intrinsically figurative.
Following his training at University College Falmouth, Cornwall, he has been painting in the South of France, Ireland, Japan and Denmark. Whilst Visiting these places his main point of concern has been the landscape, whether the subject be a disused quarry, an abandoned factory or the sight of a new tube line in London.
Merlin currently shows at the Sandford gallery, Dublin
